Job description:
To lead and undertake research in areas of supply chain management and capabilities mapping within the marine renewable energy supply chain as part of the MEECE (Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence) project.
The role will require the successful applicant to contribute to the project management and effective management of the MEECE project to ensure the meeting of targets and deadlines.
MEECE is a collaborative research project with Catapult, Swansea University, Cardiff University, Bangor University and Cardiff Metropolitan University. The MEECE project is focused on the commercialisation of marine energy technologies in Wales, supporting the Welsh supply chain to capture the maximum value from this industry, and ensure that Wales captures and embeds knowledge and expertise in its supply chain.
The successful applicant will work within the MEECE project team at Cardiff Metropolitan University as well as the wider project team in the collaborating universities and industrial partner.
Responsibilities:
To actively contribute and where necessary lead on the design, development and decision making within the MEECE Cardiff Metropolitan University project team.
To manage the day-to-day operation of the MEECE project and report directly to the Principle Lead.
To lead specific elements of the project and be responsible for the delivery of key research activities, including analysis the resulting data that will deliver the required Work Packages within the MEECE project.
To lead and support senior researchers to identify and undertake research with supply chain companies in Wales to explore and map the supply chain capabilities and opportunities within the marine energy industry sector.
To undertake and lead on key areas of the research project employing a variety of methodologies (including potentially questionnaires and qualitative interviews)
To contribute to, and lead on, the preparation and presentation of findings of research activities and progress to colleagues within the MEECE project both internally and externally for review.
To lead and contribute to the drafting and submission of papers to appropriate peer-reviewed journals.
To ensure the timely, effective and consistent delivery of the MEECE project and related research outputs through project management skills.
To contribute and write research reports and publications on the research conducted as part of the MEECE project. Disseminate the findings through presentations to stakeholders at national and international events. Liaise with the external research community via seminars and meetings. Form relationships for future collaboration.
To keep up to date with developments in those areas which are relevant to the MEECE project group, including relevant research, policy initiatives and methodological developments.
Skills & attributes:
PhD degree in a relevant area of supply chain management, operations management or a PhD in another area with demonstrable experience of engagement with supply chain focused research at a doctoral level.
Experience of working to tight deadlines.
Work experience in a related area to the MEECE Project.
