Job description:
To co-ordinate activities to support effective transition into and out of college for vulnerable students with specialist support needs.
Responsibilities:
- To contribute to the delivery of the NPTC Group of Colleges Student Support Strategy aims and operational objectives and the Professional Standards Study Support Staff;
- To be aware of legislation relating to Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Educational Tribunal Act and the Additional Learning Needs Code of Practice with reference to student transition and individual development plans (IDPs);
- To work with the College’s ALNCo in implementing and monitoring student transition plans into and out of college ensuring that the transition and review process is fully supported;
- To work closely as part of the Student Support team in providing an effective transition for students across all College sites;
- To work closely with the ILS Head of School, to identify students needing an enhanced transition when moving onto mainstream courses;
- To implement and deliver the College’s transition policy guidelines;
- To maintain and develop partnership working with all key stakeholders to ensure that students have a smooth and informed transition. Provide bespoke transition opportunities as suggested in the ALNET Code of Practice where appropriate;
- To work with external partners to prioritise school reviews for students identified with complex needs to enable early transition and support planning;
- To collect and analyse student transition data and share the information with internal and external stakeholders;
- To ensure that all elements of the student transition, support and review is person-centered and provides both students and (where appropriate) parents/carers with an opportunity to raise concerns and issues;
- To promote the Colleges’ transition opportunities and activities to all stakeholders e.g. taster days, observations;
- To work closely with academic staff and stakeholders to develop prevention and early intervention strategies for students at risk of leaving;
- Where a student has completed their education within college, provide support and information to enable them to make a smooth transition;

Skills & attributes:
Our ideal candidate will have a level 4 qualification, have relevant experience and be IT literate equivalent to Level 2. You should also hold a level 2 qualification in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent). Experience of working with young people with ALN and Disability is essential.
